Of our 53 cosponsors (complete list below) three did not seek re-election. They were Peter Hoekstra, Kendrick Meek (who ran for the Senate instead) and Vic Snyder.
Of the remaining 50, five were not re-elected. They were Michael Arcuri, Rick Boucher, Kathleen Dahlkemper, Frank Kratovil and Dennis Moore.
That means 45 will remain in office for the next Congress. I think it is interested to note that our cosponsors had a 90% rate of re-election.
I have not yet been able to find the nationwide statistic for the percentage of incumbents that will remain in office this cycle; please let me know if you have it. Yet I believe our 90% is a fair amount above the national average, which my very unofficial estimate puts around 84%.
In summary, since members of Congress who are re-elected typically sign on to a reintroduced bill they had previously cosponsored, we should feel very pleased to have hung on to 45.
