Does anyone have any advice on air travel with lower extremity lymphedema? I am going on my first business trip since presenting with lymphedema in both legs secondary to surgery and radiation for cervical cancer just over a year ago. I know I should wear my compression stockings on the plane. Any other tips?

I recently had a neural stimulation device implanted in my Butt (of all places) and shortly after I started to have a discharge coming out of the stitched area. Over a two month period, the discharge incresed in volume, it was not infected and the cut began to open with the surrounding area totally inflammed and hard to the touch. Eventually the device started to come out and was then surgically removed. I have elephantiasis on that leg and thigh (the same side where the device was placed). There was no explanation why the device did not stay in, so I thought it was most likely due to the elephantiasis on that side. I also have stage 3 in the other leg and thigh. The surgeon wants to implant the device on the other side of my butt but I am afraid that a similar thing will happen. Can anyone help me with some precautions to take. Should the area be wrapped (where the surgeon implants the device), similar to the lymphedema wraps I do daily? Should I be wrapped prior, during and after surgery? Currently, I did not start the thigh wraps; should this be started prior to surgery? Should I have MLD performed whie the area is healing? I have so many questions and no answers. PLEASE HELP.....I am scared becasue I so desparately need this device and do not want to lose another one because they will not try a 3rd time.
