  • Julie Williams I was diagnosed with stage 2 lymphedema just a few months ago. I have it in my feet all the way op below my chest. It is miserable. I started therapy 2 weeks ago and have managed to get it down with massage and being wrapped. The swelling started in January while I was in the hospital with my husband that suffered a major stroke. I could not sleep and was under so much stress. We were in the hospital for 30 days and I am now his caregiver full time. I had to quit my job of 14 years. Life seems a little rough at the moment and I feel like I may never look normal again. At age 50 last summer I was wearing a sz 8 and riding horses with my husband. I have gained about 40 lbs and am extremely depressed. I need support for sure so glad to find this site

  • Sharyn Cates Hello and God bless you all. I have lymphedema in my left arm and hand. It is from Brest cancer surgery. I had a double mastectomy. Also 10 lymph nodes removed in my left arm. I am trying to manage it myself. I just went to a therapy center last month. I bought a compression garment. I came upon this group. Thanks for the information. God bless you all and happy 4 th of July.

  • Leslie jennings Just joined this group! Lymphedema right leg since 1996 due to lymph node dissection for stage 3 melanoma! I have managed well over these 19 years! My question is I need to have a leaking valve repaired in right calf(venaseal repair).....pressure way too high and causing calf pain. Has anyone had this procedure done....how did it affect the lymphedema....he tells me my vein is VERY small which is unusual....I have been given the option of IV sedation....anyone thoughts? having this done in August! Thank you!

  • Ronald Bryant Hi, i'm new here.. I've had lymph edema in both my legs since I had a blood clot in my right leg in 2001. It is a royal pain in the butt..This month coming up will be my 3rd time back to the lymph edema clinic as it runs in a cycle with me.      I would go to the clinic for 6 weeks to be massaged and wrapped in the elastic bandages and foam underneath, my legs would shrink back to normal size, and then I have to go to this place that makes orthotics to be measured for my custom made compression stockings..Now the problem starts when I'll be wearing them not even a month and they start digging into my skin, and the pain gets so bad, I pull the compression stockings off, and my legs are sensitive where I have sores and blisters and bleeding and pus, so I never put them back on which of course then the swelling comes back and i'm back at square 1.     at this point, my legs are so swollen up,they are like tree trunks and I cant wear regular clothes and avoid special occasions because I cant fit these legs through my pant legs, so I been wearing sweat pants and you can see the outline of my legs and people who dont understand lymph edema say I should be hospitalized and they will end up cutting those legs off and question how did they get that swollen?     Well thats my little introductory story.  I'm just wondering if there is any alternative to the compression stockings that wont rip my skin apart..
