I was recently confronted with my own complacency and stumped by a patient. Does anyone have an answer from their experience? I, along with many CLTs, routinely dispense the risk reduction advice that patients who shave their legs and armpits do so with an electric razor. A patient told me that she has tried several different types of electric razors over the years and has found that they all significantly irritate her skin much more than a careful blade shaving. Not shaving her legs also produces irritation as the long hairs rub under her Elvarex. Did I, she asked, know of a specific brand or type of razor I could recommend? I had to admit that I did not and, furthermore, when I put the question to an email list of experienced colleagues, none of them had an answer either, and several reported hearing the same complaint about electric razors being harsher on their patients' skin than a blade. Does anyone out there, living with lymphedema or treating it, have a good solution for shaving with minimal irritation?

Glad to be here. I've just found a Therapist who specializes in Lymphedema and I am so relieved! I didn't seek help because all I saw on the net was.."There is nothing to be done."
