  Margaret Brahm I just joined this community -- have lymphedema in one leg as a result of surgery for endometrial cancer (and probably exacerbated by other abdominal surgery, even though that didn't involve lymph node removal).   I'm going to be in France in October...  moreI just joined this community -- have lymphedema in one leg as a result of surgery for endometrial cancer (and probably exacerbated by other abdominal surgery, even though that didn't involve lymph node removal).   I'm going to be in France in October and am curious about what resources might be available there to explore.   I understand much of what we know/do re: lymphedema originated in Europe and I wonder if there are clinics there trying new therapies.  Anyone have any thoughts?  Thank you.

    I am sure you will find therapists performing excellent MLD there. As far as therapies available there but not available here...the only thing that comes to mind are benzopyrones (coumarin) -- a medication that is utilized a lot in other parts...  moreMargaret-

As far as therapies available there but not available here...the only thing that comes to mind are benzopyrones (coumarin) -- a medication that is utilized a lot in other parts of the world to treat lymphedema. The FDA has not approved this medication in the states due to liver toxicity. So, you may want to research it a bit before you go. Emil Vodder (FAther of MLD) was from France...so I suspect there is a school...
