She was diagnosed with lymphedema when she was 8, but not until the 13th doctor i took her to. Now she is 35 and about 2 months ago, she got the most awful case of hivesi have ever seen. I took her to the ER, and they gave her steroids, etc. Nothi ng helped, but I read online that a drug called Vyvance had cured her hives. It is a med used to treat ADD in children, and my grandson takes them, so i gave her one. Almost immediatly, they and the awful itch was gone. About a month later we went through the same sequence. Then last week her Lymphedema problems exploded! Both legs are now involved, and are starting to ooze fluid. She has awful pain and itching, but refuses to go to the ER because they couldn't help before. Help! I am 64, exhausted, and she is in incredibly bad shape. She has a9 year old son and she is the most wonderful person I have

Barbara IrelandJan, I am so sorry about your pain over your daughter's illness! It breaks your heart to not be able to help! I especially empathize with you that, at 64, it is exhausting to be caring for a loved one, both emotionally and physically!

I, too, have a daughter with lymphedema in both her legs. Most of the physicians she has seen know next to nothing about this condition so I have spent many hours on the Internet doing research. I finally found Joachim Luther on the web and just recently joined this blog. There is no one in the Indianapolis who is an expert, but she has been able to get some relief from MLD by a physical therapist. However, since Medicare has limits, this treatment is sporadic. I won't go into any more detail, but just wanted to respond to you. My daughter is 51 and I am 77! Her husband and I work on her legs in between PT visits, but I have Carpal Tunnel and it is getting harder to do it!
I don't know where you live, but I was given the name of a man in Chicago, Joel Feldman,... less

I feel so bad that you are going through this. I know that all these things are given us that we might aquire knowledge and strength, and we just need to keep going and give it our best, but it is really hard. My husband is 86, but is in remarkably good health. We usually spend 6 months in the south, and 6 months in the west, but he had to go alone this time. He gives me so much hope and strength, but I miss him so much! I am in Birmingham, AL now. I have just, as of Friday, gotten her on SSI, which gets her on Medicaid, but not for 4 months. I will start looking for a specialist tomorrow. I don't know your beliefs about our Heavenly Father, but I believe that as we pray, angel, which in this case are people just like us, are put in our path, and will help us along the way, and you are certainly one of those! Love you! less
