I have just developed lymph this past summer, after having surgery on the opposite arm, in my right arm. I am grateful that it is a mild case. I know that it can change at any time. I'm looking forward to getting my LympheDiva sleeve in December. Yes! I had breast cancer in 2007 and nodes where taken at that time. I really didn't know much about the disability. Now, I still don't know very much, am afraid of it getting worse, see a therapist, do my exercises and pray. Hopefully, meeting others of the different sites I visit will help me. less

I am sooooo happy, I'm taking cookies to the surgery staff. I've been exercising every day for over two weeks to help my arm and body get stronger. I've been figuring out how to do things with my left hand only. That is a challenge. Pups is slowly losing her eye sight. We've noticed a change in her. She still gets a lot of love and encouragement. She is so helpless, compared to my own concerns. She totally depends on us to be there for her. I've thought about that in my relationship with God. God is there for me every day. It doesn't matter what I call the Power that made me. Faith is my bridge to cross and maintain every day. The way I love my pups is the way God loves me but on a deeper level. That keeps me going more and more each day. Thanks to those of you who've written back. No, I'm not preaching. I mention God's presence because I've denied it for so long and now that I am getting older, I've got to pay attention to what is greater than I am. For in doing that, I keep my perspective about how much I am a part of God's World and that my healing and acceptance work hand in hand with everything else.

This is the arm with lymphedema. I'm going to have the arm braced up, after surgery, and wrapped by my hand/lymph therapist. I'm ever so grateful for her care. It is hard for me to not be scared of what this will do to my arm and not panic about the unseen problems tomorrows might bring. I only have today, I know that. So, I decided to join a group that might be helpful with support while I learn to go through this process. I am in therapy. That has been helping. It's just darn hard sometimes to recognize that I'm turning into the disabled senior I never wanted to be. Life is full of irony.
Must stop now. less

Elizabeth Langford Meet Winnie, my favorite pups in the whole wide world. She didn't like her tutu. But, mom's made her wear it for Halloween last year. She has been one of my best sanity anchors, since I have developed lymphedema.
