I have RA, but my swelling has been only in my right hand for years, so the rheumatologists have been puzzled (it was undiagnosed lymphedema). For Thanksgiving, on the Sunday before, I finally took a deep breath and spent two hours scrubbing our downstairs half bath, cleaned the kitty litter area, and did the floors. The next day, both my hands were again badly swollen. My Vodder PT has my left leg back down to normal after the "stopping the Lasik to see if I don't have water retention" test and now I realize I have it in my hands. Actually, I am slowly realizing I have whole body swelling, which I can set off with hard activity. I am an in-utero DES baby, and since I missed the cancer three times, as I age (57), I am slowly filling with inflammation, which the DES doctors are deeply suspicious of autoimmune disease and DES poisoning. So, I am grateful I knew about lymphedema massage when my surgery leg blew up and my doctors were starring at it, with no ideas. I will have to budget out for a housekeeper, I cannot do this heavy work without paying too heavy of a price, and I am thankful for this site and hope that it continues to grow and we learn about ways to handle and control our common cause.
