At 25 1985 I had a C Section and noticed afterwards that my left leg swelled...and was painful. I went to a foot doctor. Then in the early 90's I went to a good heart doc and he said it was Lymphedema and there was nothing I could do. Eventually my right leg started to swell and then menopause hit and my abdomen swelled and my weight is all fluid now. I'm 25# overweight at 4'11". My feet tingle...before support knee hi socks my feet, especially left leg was getting pretty dimply and my feet were turning color. Since the support sock which is pretty strong, the swelling goes almost completely down even in my left leg/ankle except for a bit in a pocket on the outside of my ankle. About 3 years ago my breathing got shallow and the doc said I had fluid around my heart and I took herbs for that which helped a lot but it is back. I'm very much of a naturalist...I don't take any drugs....a few times antibiotics in my life and just a year ago I take Armour Thyroid and something else for my Hypothyroidism. The fluid and weight is really getting me down. Has anyone tried diet, water, or supplements that helped? What is primary Lymphedema? I have been watching some You Tube video's and I wondered what you have found to be the best ones? What else has everyone tried that helped a lot? Last month I forgot to wear my socks and tennis shoes and I drove 8 hrs. in flip flops! My feet really swelled and I was super uncomfortable. I don't have pain but the tingly feeling I know isn't good. I'm wondering too if it has affected my kidney's. I had my kidney's checked and I have 40% in my left and almost 60% in my right. What bad things do I have to look forward to having this and what things to watch for? I have had this for many years and I have been in the dark. I figured that since my heart doc back in the early 90's said there wasn't anything you could do for it, I never looked into it. We don't have insurance through our company and to get it privately is to expensive. We are never ever sick and I just pay cash for my thyroid medicine. Some would choose to go on dialysis but I wouldn't if it came down to this. As I said we do things naturally in our home as much as possible. Thank you for your help. less
