    Hello to the Community,
I was diagnosed Hereditary Lower Limb Lymphedema about 10 years ago.  I have also inherited terrible venous insufficiency and bulging varicose veins (thanks, Mom!).
Though vein doctors wanted to perform vein ablation therapies years ago, my limited understanding of  Lymphedema told me to steer clear of intentionally opening the skin for fear of infection.  But after a recent superficial thrombophlebitis, and a DVT the year before, the vein doc says I really need to get rid of these pesky veins.  He wants to perform radio frequency ablation and sclerotherapy on the lymphedema leg, and microphlebectomy, RFA, and sclero on the other.  So my big question.... is it craziness to do this in the presence of lymphedema, or is it common practice these days. The doc says there's no worries, but this is how he makes his living, so he's a little biased in my opinion.  Have any members been successful with vein ablation...or  have horror stories to share?  I welcome any advice!  less
