  • Weatherly Sokol Has anyone had any experiences with a pre-cancerous growth or a canceros gowth on their lympedemic arm? Was at the Dermatologist Tues ( Mother, Father and Brother have all had melanoma's) and I asked her to check a normal looking freckle on my arm which is lymphedemic (is that a word?) from having 18 lymph nodes removed in 2007 from infiltrating breast cancer. Three were positive but the surgeon took them all while waiting for results (one Path. said yes, the other thought no the third confirmed yes) and te nodes were imbedded n my muscle so very hard to find and take out (so the surgeon said). Anyway, after she checked the freckle she told me it looked suspicious and she would have to carve it out along with another normal looking one on my ankle and send them for a path report. As I was driving home the lymph fluid soaked 4 bandages (they were small) and I am wondering if this thing comes back positive, what can I expect. She showed me the one on my arm with her "magic light" and this thing that looked completely normal to the naked eye had 3 tiny circles of dark gray in the upper right side of it.  I know if I have to get more taken out I will have to see a plastic surgeon but since there are no lymph nodes there would I have to have chemo again? I am just trying to prepare myself mentally. Thanks for any info/insight, etc....Weatherly

  • Elizabeth Allway Good morning friends!  I am a new member of the Lymphedema Community.  I have what I believe is called secondary lymphedema, the result of removal of lymph nodes to cure my breast cancer ten years ago.  It was smooth sailing for nine years ~ until last summer when I forgot the rules, went to Florida for a wedding and a little fun in the sun with my sisters, and have been suffering with lymphedema ever since.
