This was in 2003 and now in 2011 I get it. Woh, I thought I was safe from this after all these years. Any chance this is a mis-diagnosis or am I in denial? I am looking for a 'good' therapist in Ottawa Canada - any suggestions? I believe I am at the very early stage(stage 1??). I have started the compression pump therapy and am told this will go on for about a week. Then the sleeve with regular monitoring.(assuming all goes well) May have to use the compression pump periodically. Does this make sense and is there a chance that this will not get worse. Also, is it OK for me to play golf and scuba dive? Woh, that is alot of questions. Hope someone can help!!! Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give. Corinne. p.s. I speak english and french if this helps.  less

Lymphedema can come on at any time after having the nodes removed. How did you get a pump, did someone recomend one? I would definitly recommend going to a therapist for manual lymph drainage massage and not the pump. Best of luck. In any case it is a lifestyle change to keep good managment of the lymphedema.

  • Steve Norton Fantastic. Welcome to the profession. I wish you the best in this important field and patient population.
  • Annie Ross I'm glad I found this site. I have been breast cancer free for two years but suffer from Lymphedema in my left arm and chest. I do the the self massage therapy twice a day and wear my Sleeve everyday. I really dont know very much about Lymphedema, glad to find other people with my problem so I can learn from them.
