This is an expensive hobby LOL, if I had to spend $300 plus every 4/6 months.

    Thanks,

    Calling all therapist:

My insurance provider is covering me for three months at the fitness center at my local hospital. Dr's approved and said walking is good, problem is my leg gets tired easily. Some days I can make 30 minutes and some days I can't. My goal is to try and loose some weight and tone up. What exercises should I be doing with one LE leg? I think that I burn the most on the treadmill, so what is the best thing for me to burn the mst.

    Thanks in advance,
    RonW.

Staff Certified Lymphedema Therapist Walking is really great if you can tolerate it. Does your gym have a pool? If so, walking in the pool is great as it takes gravity out of the picture making it easier on your leg to exercise. Swimming is also a great exercise!

Some men's trousers made of less expensive synthetic cloth have some stretch in

them, so they cling to the wrapping, but aren't too loose on the other leg.  Could

you get away with wearing sportsmen's tights or sweat pants?

I would like to compare our experiences.  less

I found some shorts mfg. by Dickies, they have a "loose fit" size which has more room in the seat and legs, also come in a 13" inseam which covers most of the wrap. They are pretty bagging with lots of room. Still working on the shoes though.

      Thsnks for your reply.

    Hi, I'm new here!
After all the medical issues which I'm slowly getting over and learning to deal with including wrapping now I'm having to deal with clothing and shoe choices. I work in a semi-professional attire atmosphere and I'm a little subconscious about wearing shorts, one adj. sandle and one shoe. What does everyone else do? I guess it's something else I'll have to get over.

    Thanks,
    RonW.

Shoes that work well for people with Lymphedema usually have a toe-box that is both wide and high. Mesh material above the toes can be helpful because it allows air to circulate and sweat to evaporate. Lace-up shoes or Velcro shoes are preferable because they allow adjustments to be made as the foot's size fluctuates.

Remember to shop for shoes at the time of day when your foot is...

  • Jim Boylan I wonder if these will be of any use for supplemental adjustable compression.  I have found that 6 inch high laced boots help keep my ankle better compressed in addition to a Jobst brand garment, but my swelling goes up to my hip. A friend told me that there are two makers of thigh high leather laced boots, Whites Boots, and Wesco boots. They are 100% custom made.
