I also heard it can be caused from other surgeries I had in the past, such as knee surgeries, I'm not really sure what caused it but I have it and makes me depressed to see my feet and ankles swell up so I can't wear my normal size shoes anymore. I have done the lymph wrappings and that helps reduce swelling after being wrapped up for 2-3 days but how can the swelling completely go away? I wan't to find a nearby lymphatic massage therapist too that has studied this extensively and is very knowledgeable but have had no luck so far, only found 2 that are not certified that tried their best but didn't help. I too get tired of dealing with lymp and don't do anything and then the swelling gets bad...can't get away with it.  less

Are there hospitals that has licensed therapist for lymphatic drainage massage? All the ones I have found so far are not certified, it is getting difficult to find one close to where I live. I'm hoping you might have some information seeing you are a certified lymphatic therapist yourself. thanks! Jo  less

Have you heard of any of those treatments or tried any and are both your legs effected and swollen? I was hoping to find a certified lymphatic massage therapist in my area that is reasonably close to where I live so I can do that along with wrappings and then try a local indoor swimming pool that offers water exercise classes..that's my goal.  less

Here is my story: In 2015 I starting noticing my ankles and feet swelling and eventually couldn't fit into any of my shoes anymore, at which point I went to my primary Dr. who was not familiar with what exactly was causing this swelling but who thought it could be caused by damaged veins, so I was sent to a skin and vein Dr. who treated me for vein damage of my legs with laser treatments but after treating the damaged veins, my ankles and feet remained swollen, so he then diagnosed me with Lymphadema and suggested several things to do, losing weight, wearing compression stockings and getting lymphedema massages and therapy. I need to find a certified therapist and feel I really need to start getting the correct Lymphatic drainage massage for me and any other treatment that can help me, also I heard water exercise is a good way to keep it under control, is that right? Thanks

  • linda e so i have had lymphedema in both legs since at least 2014. It was misdiagnosed a couple of times, I was given advice to take water pills and sleep more. Finally another doctor who was listening in on that last bit of advice, sent me to a specialist who diagnosed me and put the fear of the Almighty in me about scratching the rashes i was getting (you all know, you dont want to break the skin) So i am fortunate, we have specialists here, and therapists, Even so, you are mostly on your own with this. I have periods where i lose ground and periods where i stay even, Times i don't feel like trying and times i over-do it. Sometime on the same day. I am trying physical therapy again, Starting with water therapy, which is going well. I highly recommend it.
  • Barbara Landsman I just found this and am going to post now. I am having a difficult time in the heat and figure will be easier to wear the garments when it gets cooler. I particularly hate the bike shorts
