If elevation is the only advice you've yet received there is a much more comprehensive evaluation that must be performed. You should not have to suffer with this newly diagnosed lymphedema. it only been a year since your operation which makes your swelling quite treatable. I would like to ask you to seek a Certified Therapist (135 hours of training). If you are open I can direct you to resources. I hope to hear back from you and wish you well. There are special stockings that kill bacteria (silver) and exercise is important in the stockings to pump the fluid. You can also use repellants if necessary. I would not recommend staying cooped up in side. Its very depressing and demotivating to say the least. You should also always have a current... less
