I had a patient who had a crush trauma to his R leg, developed a clot and result was a swollen leg. We used a lymphedema management approach and once cleared for deeper tissue work( 8 months after injury) he reported tasting something for about a day after MLD with soft tissue work. This continued for several sessions. Seems that the tissue can hold stuff for quite a while.

Last year she had a CT scan w/barium sulfate contrast suspension. She reported to me the next day that the evening after the MLD work she was sure that she could almost taste the barium. Possible that some of it had been been in her for a year?

I am a MT and discouraged not being able to follow through with treatment because of billing issues. So I have focused more on the MLD aspect. The benefits of MLD. It seems to me, that MLD may be helpful in reducing the risk of lymphedema after insult to the system. I would very much like to know your thoughts on this. Anything you would share would be much appreciated. There are only two other certified therapists in this town and so many more people that need help. A client I saw recently had a double mastectomy in Dec.2010. 35 LN removed on left side. Her treating physician sent her out of town, she was told to come back when she had lymphedema there was nothing they could do for her. less

I am a MT and do not get a chance to do much of the bandaging. So I am focusing more on the MLD. I am aware that this site is relating to Lymphedema, hoping that any one may have advice, knowledge, or direction on the other benefits of MLD, to share. Thank You.
